Itinerary

Day 01

• At 09:00hrs, depart Kuching by van for 4½ hours leisure drive to the Batang Ai Jetty.  There will be three stopovers along the route: - I) Serian, a predominantly Dayak trading town,   II) Chinese farm house to see how pepper and cocoa are grown and (III) at Lachau for lunch.   The journey passes through scenic countryside of rice fields, rubber, cocoa, pepper and oil palm plantations, which intermingle with luxuriant tropical rainforest, rivers and mountain ranges.  Upon arrival at the river jetty, proceed by motorized longboat for about 60 minutes crossing the Batang Ai Lake passing through scenic views, rice fields, fish farms and clear water to reach the Mengiling Longhouse.  Proceed to the longhouse for a warm welcome by the natives, tour the longhouse, watch the natives at work such as making mats, baskets, handicrafts and mending fish nets.   Join the natives in their daily chores, like feeding their livestock, washing clothes, swim in the river or just relax at the riverbank.   After dinner, socialize with the longhouse dwellers, presentation of gifts and witness cultural performances before retiring for the night at the Longhouse.   (LD)

Day 02

• After breakfast , witness cock-fighting and blowpipe demonstration, depart by longboat ( 5 minutes ) to the bank for the 90 minutes jungle trekking (uphill) passing through mixed forest.   Along the trails, the guide will highlight the usages of the difference types of
  plants, palms, rottan vines, big trees, mud pools and etc.
• Upon reaching the top of hill which is open forest, take a break before continuing the trail and it takes another about 60 minutes
  trekking downhill with ropes setup all along the trail to make it safer for the clients.
• Upon reaching the stream, clients can take a dip at the few nature pools, follow-by a nice native style lunch,  return by longboat to the
  Mengiling Longhouse.   Relax at the floating swimming pool with dinner at the Longhouse.   Spend the evening socializing with the  native until late in the evening and overnight at the guesthouse.   (LD)

Day 03

• After breakfast, depart by longboat to the Jetty, then by coach to Kuching with stopover for lunch and transfer to the hotel.  (BL)
